The Future of the European Capital of Culture BrandInternational Symposium
This event took place on the 20th of June 2024 in the city of Bielsko-Biała, one of the candidates to host the ECoC title for Poland in 2029.
The symposium was organised and hosted by Culture Next - the ECoC candidate cities network and the Bielsko-Biała ESK 2029 team. It featured a full-day conference with experts in cultural management, marketing, artists, and representatives from cities that have held or competed for the title of European Capital of Culture - Chris Baldwin, Beatriz Garcia, Pierre Sauvageot, Ștefan Teişanu, Nancy Braun, Anna Koceragova-Maj, Sara Vuletić, Andras Farkas, Kelly Diapouli, Stefan Stoyanov, Mariateresa Cascino, Helen Palmer.
The focus was on analyzing the needs and dimensions of an ECoC brand, as well as the strategies for brand creation by candidate and title-holding cities. We explored both the successes and failures and outlined priorities for the future.
